MG995 servo motor
The MG995 is a high-torque, standard-size servo motor designed for applications that require strong, reliable, and precise movement. Built with durable metal gears (brass and aluminum), it delivers excellent performance for robotics, RC models, and mechanical projects where power matters.
This servo provides up to 10–12 kg·cm of torque, making it ideal for robotic arms, steering systems, pan-tilt mechanisms, and other motion control applications that demand solid holding force. Its analog control system ensures stable positioning, while the internal feedback potentiometer allows accurate angle control.
Key Features
-
Standard (medium) size servo motor
-
High torque: up to 12 kg·cm
-
Metal gear train (brass & aluminum) for durability
-
180° rotation (usable range slightly less to prevent strain)
-
Analog control system
-
Cost-effective solution for high-power projects
Operating Specifications
-
Operating Voltage: 4.8V – 7.2V DC
-
Speed: ~0.2 sec / 60° (at 6V)
-
Control Signal: PWM (50Hz)
-
Pulse width range: 1ms – 2ms
How It Works
The MG995 servo receives a PWM signal every 20ms (50Hz). The width of the pulse determines the shaft position:
-
1.0 ms → 0°
-
1.5 ms → 90° (center)
-
2.0 ms → 180°
Intermediate pulse widths position the shaft precisely between these angles.
Important Usage Notes
-
Use a separate power supply capable of delivering sufficient current (1–2A recommended per servo).
-
Avoid driving the servo continuously to extreme 0° or 180° positions to prevent gear strain and overheating.
-
For maximum reliability, operate within a safe range such as 20°–160°.
The MG995 servo motor offers an excellent balance of strength, affordability, and precision—making it a dependable choice for hobbyists, students, and professional developers alike.
